Bing, Bob, Martin & Lewis Raise Money For The 1952 US Olympic Team

Salutations Phantom Dancers,

Another humdinger of a show for you this week. Vincent Price introduces calypso pioneers Lord Invader & Lord Beginner, Bob Hope introduces Bing Crosby & The Andrew Sisters. Plus more 1940s Australian swing by George Trevare, Billy Cotton from London & Angelini from Rome

An Olympic Video Of The Week: Bing Crosby, Bob Hope (who gets very angry at the beginning – look at his face when he hits Jerry Lewis), Dean Martin, the aforementioned Jerry Lewis & John Scott Trotter’s Orchestra raising money to send the US team to the 1952 Helsinki Games

  1. Hey pallies, likes Mr. Greg what a rare and wonderful Dino-find…simply loves watchin’ our Dino and his funny man Jerry Lewis in their prime. Never was, never will be anyone as cool as the King of Cool…oh, to return to the days when Dino walked the earth. Know that this lost treasure is bein’ shared with all the pallies gathered ’round ilovedinomartin.

    • Thank you, Kentsmokerguy. I will link to your blog ilovedeanmartin – because for Dino fans, this blog is a must see. Quoting from the ilovedeanmartin blog about the 1952 telethon clip above: “Hey pallies, likes here’s what I call a spectacular Dino-find! From down under pallie Mr. Greg Poppleton’s self-tagged pad, “Greg Poppleton’s Radio Lounge,” comes a youtube clip of our most beloved Dino and his ever funny partner Mr. Jerry Lewis from June 22, 1952. The clip is of a telethon raisin’ funds to send the US Olympic Team to the 1952 Helsinki Games.

Filmed life from the first El Capitan TV Theater on Vine Street in Hollywood, this video treasure captures our great man and his pal in their prime….doin’ a bit of funny singin’ with all sorts of clownin’ ’round…it is cerrtainly vintage Martin and Lewis!

ilovedinomartin sez our thanks to Mr. Greg Poppleton, “a 1920s and 1930s – style singer based in Sydney, Australia” for sharin’ this rare Dino-find with his readership in honor of the 2012 Olymics…and givin’ all his Dino-holics so so much Dino-pleasure in viewin’ this lost treasure. To view this in it’s original format, likes just clicks on the tag of this here Dino-gram. Dino-delightedly, DMP”

      • Hey pallie, thanks ever so much for your kindness in linkin’ to the ol’ ilovedinomartin blog….always always grateful for others help in spreadin’ the Dino-word…. Keeps lovin’ our Dino!
