Such a delight, as always, for Greg Poppleton and the Bakelite Broadcasters to play at Sydney’s semi-regular 1920s extravaganza, The Gin Mill Social, at Slide, 41 Oxford Street, Darlinghurst. The next Gin Mill Social, Friday 28 March is already sold out. So get in early and book your place for the Friday 25 April extravaganza.
1920s music by the Greg Poppleton Bakelite Trio opened the night.
As always. Greg Poppleton, Sydney’s only authentic 1920s singer sings for joy using all of his extraordinary 3 octave range.
Geoff Power keeps the syncopated beat on the sousaphone then stands up to the mic to bring down the house with his torrid trumpet.
Chuck Morgan makes the rhythm rollicking with his tenor banjo then adds some Clara Bow magic on the silent movie star’s own ukelele.
And that’s just for starters! Then you’ll be entertained by magic, fan dancing burlesque, aerials, tap dancers and more live music nigh up to the witching hour. What a night! See for yourself…
The Gin Mill Social is back, 7pm Friday 28 March. It’s already sold out! So book your seat now for 7pm Friday 25 April!
