The Great Art Deco Ball is the peak event in the annual Blue Mountains 1920s Festival. This year’s Great Art Deco Ball was again sold out. Many guests came especially to see and dance to red hot 1920s dance band Greg Poppleton and the Bakelite Broadcasters cut loose in their natural habitat…
In Greg Poppleton and the Bakelite Broadcasters, Sydney’s most authentic and swing 1920s – 1930s small group are:
Greg Poppleton – singer (and film / TV actor),
Geoff Power – trumpet and sousaphone,
Grahame Conlon – banjo and guitar,
Jim Elliott – bass saxophone, alto saxophone and clarinet.
Greg Poppleton and the Bakelite Broadcasters play for all occasions – trio to 11-piece 1920s Orchestra.
We are the resident 1920s trio at Slide Cabaret’s Gin Mill Social. We also play regularly at Penrith and Cronulla RSLs, Sydney Rowers, Jazz At The Pines and more.
