July Newsletter – Greg Poppleton and the Bakelite Broadcasters

Greetings Bakelite Broadcasters!

It’s been a huge year so far for Greg Poppleton and the Bakelite Broadcasters.

We started the New Year with a bang at the Carrington Hotel for their 1930s New Years Ball.

        Then,

1. We were back at the Carrington for the band’s fourth Great Art Deco Ball as part of the annual Blue Mountaisn 1920s Festival,

2. Flew to New Zealand for the Waiheke International Jazz Festival,

3. Entertained at the swinging Illawarra Jazz Festival,

4. Played at the world’s first official 2016 International Jazz Day event at the Avoca Beach Picture Theatre,

5. Presented a show of 1920s and ragtime at the St George Auditorium for Music at Twilight

6. Plus played shows at the Gin Mill Social, Penrith RSL, Cronulla RSL, Sydney Rowers Club, weddings, corporate events and birthday parties.

So this month, we’re recharging the batteries.

I’m busy working on the artwork and 8-page booklet that will come with the fourth album by Greg Poppleton and the Bakelite Broadcasters, called Back In Your Own Backyard and due for release in August. More on this in next month’s newsletter.

VALE CRONULLA SUNDAY JAZZ

Sadly, Cronulla RSL discontinued Sunday jazz as of 30 June. So Greg Poppleton and the Bakelite Broadcasters will not be at Cronulla RSL, Sunday 3 July. The end of an era.

It’s the 1920’s in here! Inside an old closed down bank lies the hottest spot on the strip. Its prohibition time, an era of secrecy and excess and you have the secret password…. Hang out the front of the old bank when you arrive, but look busy, we don’t want those cops spotting you.

The party begins at 6:45pm sharp. – Food is served banquet style, arriving on platters made for sharing. Eat as much or as little as you like. – The dress code is simple- Girls in pearls. Guys in ties.

Entertainment line up: Greg Poppleton and the Bakelite Broadcasters, a 2nd band, acrobat, ribbon aerials, fan dancer, juggler, tap dancers and you MC Ms Lou P Lou.

The Gin Mill Social is perfect for a birthday, anniversary dinner, meet with the in-laws, hang with the outlaws, or simply to reconnect with old friends. Candles are lit. Lights are low. Conversations are loud. It’s a lively atmosphere. Join us….. Feast, dance and play! TICKETS
