6 Sep Phantom Dancer – ‘1933 TV’

The Phantom Dancer with Greg Poppleton is your non-stop 2 hour mix of swing and jazz from live 1920s-1960s radio and TV broadcasts.

It’s online, too, and past shows are archived for your listening pleasure at 2ser.com

In fact, you can now hear today’s show ONLINE AT 2SER

Highlight sets for this week’s show includes a trip to the 1930s Cotton Club to hear Duke Ellington and his Orchestra, progressive keyboardists on the air, big band swing on ‘Spotlight Bands’ and Brunswick jazz on 1920s radio.

The last hour is all vinyl.

This week’s Phantom Dancer Video of the Week is an education film from the Kroger Film Foundation made in 1933 about quality testing of food. The ‘typical household’ in the film even has a TV, the program on which, announced by radio star Alois Havrilla, is the main body of the doco. Watch and learn!

Make sure you come back to this blog, Greg Poppleton’s Radio Lounge, every Tuesday, for the latest Phantom Dancer play list and Video of the Week!
