13 December Phantom Dancer – Christmas in Australia 1958

Here is your Phantom Dancer play list for Tuesday 13 December 2016 on 107.3 2SER Sydney 12noon – 2pm, online and archived for your listening and dancing pleasure after the Tuesday broadcast at http://www.2ser.com

On this week’s 2 hour non-stop mix of swing and jazz from live 1920s – 1960s radio you’ll hear some real radio rarities – George Gershwin, The 3 T’s (Jack and Charlie Teagarden and Frank Trambauer) and The Three Potato Bugs ocarina trio.

Plus there’re a few commercial sides including a 1930s side by Australian swing maestri Frank Coughlan and George Trevare, and a 1940s record by Mandopop singer Yao Lee whose song Rose, Rose I Love You is the only Chinese Pop Song ever to get into the top 3 in the US Charts. It was covered by Frankie Laine in 1951. Petula Clark did a cover of the 1940 song in the UK.

Your Phantom Dancer Video of the Week is a 1958 film about Christmas in Australia. Enjoy…
