Greg Poppleton opened the final Gin Mill Social to be held at Slide with a 75 minute set of 1920s jazz, Charleston and hotcha.

In the band with Greg were Geoff Power sousaphone doubling cornet and Bradley Newman, piano.

Greg Poppleton and the Bakelite Broadcasters had the flappers and gentlemen dancing The Charleston at a 1920s Great Gatsby gala raising money for education.

2017 is Greg Poppleton and the Bakelite Broadcaster‘s fourth year at Sydney’s premier monthly 1920s party, The Gin Mill Social.

And as always we opened the show as guests arrived and dined with authentic hotcha 1920s, Charleston and New Orleans Jazz till 8pm.

1920s Themed 30th Birthday Party Photos


Greg Poppleton and the Bakelite Broadcasters entertained with songs from the 1920s at an absolutely brilliant 30th birthday party in Sydney last night.

Australia’s only authentic 1920s singer, Greg Poppleton, was backed by Geoff Power (sousaphone / trumpet) and Paul Baker on banjo.

Paul was playing a banjo that once belong to one of the most prolific recording artists of the 20th century, the Benny Goodman and Paul Whiteman alumnus, Allan Reuss.

Greg Poppleton and the Bakelite Broadcasters play jazz and swing from the 1920s and 1930s for clubs and festivals as well as parties, weddings and corporate events. Enquire about having us at your party.
