2018 Great Art Deco Ball Photos

Greg Poppleton, 1920s singer and band, played the Great Art Deco Ball in the historic Carrington Hotel, Katoomba, Saturday 3 February.

It’s the sixth year in a row Greg Poppleton has played the Great Art Deco Ball . Each year the Ball gets bigger and brighter.
And it sells out earlier each year, too, without online sales or advertising.
The 2018 Ball sold out in November 2017!
Many of our dancing friends from previous years were at the Great Art Deco Ball this year!

Sydney’s Only 1920s Singer And Band Entertain Lavish Gatsby Party

Greg Poppleton and the Bakelite Broadcasters, Sydney’s only authentic 1920s singer and band, played for a fantastic and lavish Great Gatsby theme birthday party last Friday night. The dance floor was full. Everyone had fun. The band wowed the guests.

Many guests commented on how the band (out of four at the event) was the only one to capture the spirit of the 1920s and was the only one that made the Gatsby theme of the party ring true. (“We were good value”, as one guest put it.)

I snapped some pictures on stage for you as the band filled the dance floor playing Duke Ellington’s Creole Love Call. The first two pictures were taken during soundcheck. Enjoy…

Greg Poppleton Jazz Deco band and Old Style Photo Booth At 1920s Themed Party

Did you ever use one of those old photo booths tucked away in a railway station or shopping centre where you’d pull aside a curtain, crowd into the tiny booth with a pile of friends, perch on a tiny stool, and for a dollar get a rectangle of four black and white snaps? If my description doesn’t ring a bell for you quite yet, this is what one of these photo booths look like…

Well, Greg Poppleton Jazz Deco Band were playing a 1920s themed party recently, and the party organisers hired one of these booths for their guests to take photos of themselves. What a hit!

First, just to paint the scene of this 1920s party, here is a photo of part of Greg Poppleton and his Deco Jazz band snapped on stage at the Intercontinental Hotel, Sydney.
