GREG’S TIP-TOP TIP #2
Consider your event type

Weddings, parties and corporate events usually call for a band. Some types of events may justify booking the band in different combinations. For example a duo or trio from the band could open the event or play for cocktails, with the larger band or orchestra closing the evening for dancing.

June Newsletter – Greg Poppleton

Heigh-Ho Everybody,

… as Rudy Vallee used to say on his 1930s radio show –

WE’VE BEEN TO THE REGISTRY OFFICE
and we’ve changed the band name and web address

Yes, we’ve taken the plunge.

Due to many requests, the band name Greg Poppleton and the Bakelite Broadcasters has been changed and shortened.

Now it’s a name we’re sure you’ll find easier to say, easier to write and easier to remember – Greg Poppleton.

The band website name has changed, too. It was bakelitejazz.com. Now it’s gregpoppletonmusic.com.

Check out the hot new video for you on the new website – ‘All About Swing’ dancing to Greg Poppleton playing The Charleston at Palmer & Co.

BREAKING NEWS

We’re back at Palmer & Co this Saturday night, 27 May, 8-Midnight. FREE.

I’ve assembled, as always, the best aggregation of classic 1920s jazz and 1930s swing musicians there is to be had in Sydney:

Paul Furniss – clarinet and alto sax
Geoff Power – cornet and sousaphone
Grahame Conlon – guitar and banjo
Lawrie Thompson – drums and washboard
Greg Poppleton – authentic 1920s – 1930s vocals

The entire album was recorded between 10:45 am and 3:15pm on Wednesday 24 February with a 45 minute lunch break. So the feel is just like a high energy live show.

Tracks: Back In Your Own Backyard (title track) / Yes, We Have No Bananas / Egyptian Ella / Cakewalking Babies From Home / The Lady Is A Tramp / Too Marvelous For Words / They Didn’t Believe Me / Honeysuckle Rose / When My Dreamboat Comes Home / I’ll See You In My Dreams / I’m Nobody’s Sweetheart Now / Makin’ Whoopee!
