Greg Poppleton at Dubbo Jazz Festival 2014


Saturday August 16th found Greg Poppleton and the Bakelite Broadcasters headlining at the Dubbo Jazz Festival 2014.

Greg Poppleton and the Bakelite Broadcasters‘ first show at the Dubbo Golf Club was broadcast by Radio 16.

Playing hot jazz from the 1920s in the band where:
Greg Poppleton – 1920s singer and megaphone
Geoff Power – sousaphone and trumpet
Grahame Conlon – banjo and guitar
Jim Elliot – clarinet, alto and the big bass saxophone

Cameron from Canberra band, Moochers Inc., sat in with us on trumpet for The Sheik of Araby.

After 9pm, many in the audience followed us to the band’s second show at Club Dubbo. That’s where the pictures you see in this post were taken.

Thank you to Melbourne drummer, Allan Richards, who sat in with us on the second Club Dubbo set till midnight and to Melbourne jazz singer, Donna, who joined me on ‘My Blue Heaven’…We also sold quite a few ‘Doin’ The Charleston‘ CDs and made lots of new mailing list friends
